Raden Ravotti Achmad
Asikin Natanegara, fondly known by his love ones, family
and friends as 'Votti' or 'Ravotti'. Graduated with International
Law degree majoring in Humanitarian Law, Ravotti chose
to follow his passion and pursue a career in photography.
His
passion for photography was ignited at the age of 10 years
old when his parents bought him a simple Kodak camera.
In his high school years at the prestigious Jesuit's Canisius
College, Ravotti was in charge of the college's events
documentation. As a law student, his talent in photography
began to receive annual awards in photographic competitions
in 1987.
As
the eldest child of the late Haji Raden Achmad Saleh Kurnadi
Teddy Asikin Natanegara also known as Laksamana Madya
Teddy Asikin Natanegara, former Indonesian Navy Deputy
Chief of Staff; and Dr Inria Asikin Natanegara, Ophthalmologist
Surgeon; Ravotti enjoyed a happy and colourful childhood
living in many parts of Indonesia, following his father's
postings as a high ranking Naval Officer.
Education,
etiquette and discipline are highly encouraged in this
military / medical family. Ravotti is known to be punctual
and spiritual within the family. In one of his media interview,
Ravotti expressed "
there used to be consequences
even if I was only 5 minutes late."
As
the world shifts towards digital photography, Ravotti
with his appreciation for old fashion techniques and values
prefers to work with manual camera capturing photographs
on film for as long as he could. "Capturing moments
with manual camera proves and refines my own skills; sharpen
my intuition, accuracy and sensitivity as a photographer."
Thru
his camera lens, Ravotti perceptive eyes have captured
many public figures in candid moments. His works are treasured
and often adorn prominent wall spaces of these famous
personalities as well as publications including Jakarta
Post and Rebel Magazine.
Currently residing
in Australia to pursue further study in Multi Media, Ravotti
has been the photographer for official events at the Indonesian
Consul General as well as Wisma Indonesia in Sydney and
other venues, including the 'Australia and Indonesia:
Partners in a New Era' Bilateral Conference in Feb 2009.
Ravotti spends most of his spare time capturing the beauty
of Australian landscape.
